Brand Identity Design for Merryman House

This was such a special project to work on! Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center is committed to improving the lives of those affected by intimate partner violence: women, men, and children. They wanted a calming, professional and empowering brand to represent their mission of saving, building and changing the lives of survivors of intimate partner violence.

With a serene color palette, modern typography and combining soft and strong design elements, we represented the inclusivity, safety and strength that is at the forefront of their advocacy.

“We loved Amanda’s process from start to finish. The information-gathering she did up front was thoughtful and thorough, and the input we got to give halfway through the conceptual process gave us a small idea of what to expect from the final product. When we did see the final product, we were pleasantly surprised by how many of our ideas she was able to incorporate in ways we never would have thought of alone. She was responsive throughout, kept to the agreed-upon timeline, and delivered a logo package we feel truly reflects our organization’s services and values.”

THE BRAND BOOK

Included in their branding package was one of my favorite assets to build for clients - The Brand Book, a 20+ page guide outlining all of the details for the brand. This guide allows all of the team members to be aligned in the exact way to utilize the logo and design elements, keeping everything consistent across all marketing platforms (website, social media, print material, digital ads, etc.).

THE DETAILS

Merryman House opted for a monogram style icon, using the letters of their name to create a meaningful symbol that embodies their organization. I choose a strong, modern typeface to represent strength and security. The larger “M” with the “H” inside symbolizes shelter and protection. The half circle with 3 rays showcases home, safety, sunrise/new beginning with the three lines for their core values - Saving, Building, Changing Lives.

Check out the transformation! The serene colors and bolder fonts were intentionally curated to reflect the inclusivity and empowering nature of their advocacy. I thoroughly enjoyed this process and hope to work with more nonprofits in the future!
